Self-Knowledge

"Right thinking comes with self-knowledge."
"Without understanding yourself, you have no basis for thought;
Without self-knowledge what you think is not true.
You and the world are not two different entities with separate problems;
You and the world are one. Your problem is the world's problem. You may be the result of certain tendencies, of environmental influences, but you are not different fundamentally from another.

Inwardly we are very much alike;
We are all driven by greed, ill will, fear, ambition… Our beliefs, hopes, aspirations have a common basis.
We are one;
We are one humanity, though the artificial frontiers of economics and politics and prejudice divide us.

If you kill another, you are destroying yourself. You are the center of the whole, and without understanding yourself you cannot understand reality. We have an intellectual knowledge of this unity but we keep knowledge and feeling in different compartments and hence we never experience the extraordinary unity of man."

Well, i somewhat agree and disagree to this post. Though the main theme is pretty much ok, the approach is not so ok. For some odd reason we humans mostly choose to define life through the darker perspectives. Why define the basics of life through greed, ill will, fear etc, when there are good things too.

Can't much comment on this till i read the actual thing in full context :) .... but overall, i agree... :)

Well, I think when K's defines the basics of life and says that "We are all driven by greed, ill will, fear, ambition…" and "Our beliefs, hopes, aspirations have a common basis", he wanted to say, although we ignore some of those characteristics of life, all the human beings have a bit of them... but because we build ourselves according with what we think is the best and the correct, our subconscious only will put in evidence the characteristics that we think their the best for us...

Sometimes, we have the capacity to choose the good ones, but others... we failed, and we do not chose those which most of us considered as the best options...

That's why exist good people and others who think they also are... but they can't be, because they chose others ways of life, which it will never let them to be considered, by the common mortal, as a good people... But even thus, they think they're the best.

No one is the better than another one... as you used to say... there are different points of view.

It all depends of ours life's choices.
